anyone played this? I'm tempted to get it because we enjoy Red Dead so much...but not sure if it's the same kind of approach or not.

I think if you like Red Dead, you won't like Dead Man. Nearly every review was negative, and it generally looks like a botched game. You might want to rent it first.
