    Office Pranks

Well, I've let my manager know about my suspicions, but neither he nor I are really willing to make any accusations. He gave me similar advice, to keep him apprised if anything similar happens. And yes, the water must have been poured or spilled. There are no leaks in the ceiling (and the...

    Office Pranks

I'm not 100% certain, but I believe I've just been the victim of an office prank. I work in a cubicle, and I get it early (7:30). The people who work near me come in much later, between 9 and 9:30, or even later than that, except for one guy, who sits behind me, who comes in at 7:15. For some...

    The Wii Countdown

Just when I thought I'd come to terms with waiting the extra month! Now that the launch is about a week away (i.e. next weekend I'd have been playing), I'm all bitter about it again. I really hope that stores get demo units set up.

Roach: Writing on a schedule does not ensure my best work, in fact, often I find I'm just going through the motions to keep on schedule. But it does ensure that work gets done - which wouldn't happen otherwise. I have a short attention span, and if I lose interest in a project, I need that...

    The Wii Countdown

Jeff raises an excellent point there about how Nintendo differs fundamentally from Sony and MS. It really has never been a competition between the three, because Nintendo's only registering on one event. And it's not the one that matters to the world at large.

    Holy Crap!

If I get this job, I will be for sure. As of now, not anytime soon. I am working on proper novel. I have been for a while now, and it is my first and (right now) only writing priority. I have a schedule, and I must finish it in one year. With my current job, I don't have time to do Underland. I...

    Holy Crap!

Hey Guys, I just found a small comic book publisher based right in Toronto that is hiring a writer. I just applied. I'm going nuts. That's my dream job! Even if it doesn't pay much. If anybody here prays, pray that I get this job. It would be like the fourth best thing that ever happened...

    FFXII Gambit tips

But your ranged people have healing first, right? Otherwise, nobody'd get healed until each battle was over, and that's no good!

That's more or less what I figured out on my own. Except I make healing everybody's first priority. I don't have access to any fancy gambits yet. (I'm only about 6 or 7 hours in).

    The Wii Countdown

Well, certainly, don't get a Wii if you're only getting it for TP. That's stupid. There are other reasons to get a Wii though. And there are enough interesting bits added to TP to make it more interesting on Wii than on GCN.

    The Wii Countdown

Yeah, but from watching the videos, that's what it looks like they did. Same with Red Steel. The sword motions are not 100% free-form. Look, in prior Zelda games, (i.e. Wind Waker) you could affect the way Link would swing his sword by tilting the analog stick when you pushed the button...

Why are you assuming that a swing of the controller couldn't be interpreted by the software the same way as a button push?

I don't think they changed the engine at all. I think they just reassigned the controls. It's not free-form sword swinging -- the movements don't correspond exactly.

    FFXII Gambit tips

Yeah, I'm guessing at the stage I'm at (just after Balthier and Fran join the party for the first time) the gambits will be best used as an auto-heal function. I gather that at some point, you'll be able to have a gambit that has the character attacking any foes at crit. HP levels first...
